Celebrate Recovery Testimony: Mike’s Redemption Story
A gripping Celebrate Recovery testimony—Mike shares how Jesus redeemed a life marked by addiction, violence, prison, and shame, and turned head knowledge into heart-level faith.
For years, I thought the goal of faith was getting everything right.
If I could prove I was strong, disciplined, and “good” enough, surely God—and people—would be pleased. So I built a mask. I smiled when I was exhausted, served while secretly struggling, and gave answers when I really needed questions.
Then one quiet night I sensed God whisper, “You can keep pretending, or you can let Me heal you—but you can’t do both.”
That moment began a slow, honest transformation—and eventually inspired this podcast.
Masks feel safe. They protect us from judgment—or so we think. But what we hide can’t heal.
When Adam and Eve sinned, they hid among the trees, yet God didn’t ask “What did you do?” He asked “Where are you?” (Genesis 3). His heart wasn’t punishment; it was pursuit.
We still do the same. We hide behind busyness, smiles, or religion, hoping no one notices our cracks. But grace can’t reach what pride conceals.
For a long time, my faith became a façade. I was doing the right things for the wrong reasons.
Only when everything cracked did I realize God’s grace isn’t a safety net—it’s the ground I already stand on (2 Corinthians 12:9).
People aren’t drawn to perfection; they’re drawn to honesty. Unmasked exists to make space for that honesty.
This show isn’t about perfection—it’s about process. It’s a conversation for anyone who’s ever wondered if God could still use them after failure.
Freedom doesn’t begin with pretending; it begins with bringing our real selves to a real Savior.
Spend ten quiet minutes this week with no phone or music. Ask:
What mask am I wearing?
What fear keeps it on?
What truth does God want me to see?
Pray: “God, help me see myself the way You see me—fully known, fully loved, and free.”
