Conquering the Fight Within: My Conversation on Conquerors Crew with Trent Brock
I recently had the honor of joining Conquerors Crew, hosted by Trent Brock, for a powerful and honest conversation about resilience, faith, recovery, and what it really takes to keep moving forward when life tries to break you.
Conquerors Crew isn’t a podcast built on surface-level motivation or polished success stories. It’s a space for real people to share real battles—and real breakthroughs. That spirit of authenticity made this conversation especially meaningful, because it allowed us to talk openly about struggle without pretending the road has been easy.
A Host Who Understands the Fight
Trent Brock is not just a podcast host—he’s a three-time terminal cancer conqueror, patient-advocacy advisor, author, and coach. His life experience gives weight to every question he asks and depth to every conversation he leads. Trent stepped into podcasting to overcome stage fright, but what he’s built has become a platform of hope for people facing health crises, addiction, identity struggles, loss, fear, and major life transitions.
Over the years, Trent has appeared on more than 60 podcasts, panels, and live events, sharing practical mindset tools shaped by real pain and real perseverance. That lived experience is what makes Conquerors Crew such a safe and impactful space.
From Performance to Authenticity
During our conversation, we talked about the danger of living behind a mask—especially in faith spaces. For years, I believed that leadership meant strength without struggle and confidence without confession. That mindset kept me isolated, exhausted, and quietly losing battles I was never meant to fight alone.
One of the recurring themes of the episode was this truth: freedom begins where honesty starts.
Recovery—whether from addiction, anger, shame, or broken identity—doesn’t happen through willpower alone. It happens in community, through accountability, and through a willingness to be seen as you actually are. That lesson has shaped my life, my preaching, my writing, and my podcast, Unmasked with Wesley Farnsworth.
Faith, Recovery, and the Power of Community
We also discussed how faith plays a critical role in healing—not as a quick fix, but as a steady foundation. Trusting God doesn’t remove the work; it gives meaning to it. Community doesn’t eliminate struggle; it keeps you standing when the weight gets heavy.
This is something I’ve experienced personally through Celebrate Recovery and through relationships that refused to let me isolate when I wanted to disappear. Healing accelerated when I stopped trying to conquer everything alone.
As Scripture reminds us, “Two are better than one… If either of them falls down, one can help the other up” (Ecclesiastes 4:9–10). That truth echoed throughout our conversation.
Paying It Forward: Stories That Create Impact
One of the most compelling parts of Conquerors Crew is Trent’s Men’s Collaborative Book Series, a project that invites men who’ve overcome adversity to tell their stories in their own words—preserving truth, legacy, and lessons learned. It’s not about polish. It’s about impact.
That aligns deeply with my own calling: using lived experience to help others find hope, clarity, and courage. Stories don’t just inspire—they invite people to take their next step.
Why This Conversation Matters
If you’re walking through a season where life feels heavy—whether it’s health, addiction, loss, identity, or fear—this episode is for you. It’s a reminder that you are not weak for needing help, and you are not alone in the fight.
Breakthrough doesn’t happen when we pretend we’re fine. It happens when we tell the truth and keep moving forward together.
